Google is always making changes to their search algorithm. They also make constant updates to their Google My Business Listing tool.
They recently just announced 3 new updates that will have an impact on your listing and ultimately your business.
Here are the 3 Updates:
1. Direct Messaging from Google My Business
Customers can now directly message you from your Google My Business profile similar to Facebook or Instagram direct messages. This is a huge update because now a potential customer can message you from their mobile device to get in contact with you. You need to turn this feature on manually!
You can do this by going to admin side of your listing, clicking on messaging and pressing “turn on.” Then, customers will be able to direct message you from their mobile device.
2. Flag Inappropriate Reviews
Google now allows you to flag inappropriate reviews. This helps a lot of businesses who were receiving poor reviews that were unwarranted.
All you have to do is go to the “reviews” section of your listing, find the review that is false and click “Flag as Inappropriate.”
This can help against malicious or fake reviews that have plagued some business owners over the years who had zero help from Google in getting them removed.
3. New Metrics for SEO
Google adds new metrics to your GMB so you can see how people found your business online. This will let you know how your SEO efforts are working and what to capitalize on.
You can now get a better idea of how businesses found you and also can see insights dating back to 6 months as opposed to just 3 months.
