How to Maximize Your Facebook Video View Campaigns

In this article, you’ll discover a step-by-step process to maximize the effectiveness of your Facebook video view advertising campaigns.

Why Video View Campaigns?

First off, if you are not utilizing video view campaigns on Facebook, you need to start. It’s no secret, that video has become a very popular medium on Facebook and that the platform wants you to post video content.

Facebook themselves note that video content drives higher engagement and interactions from users compared to any other type of content on the platform.

Even more staggering is that Facebook gets over 8 billion average daily video views! (Sprout Social)

So, if your company has a quality video that showcases what you do, you want to utilize that on Facebook. It will receive better organic engagement than any other type of posts in most cases and people prefer to watch videos than read a long text-based post.

But more importantly, Facebook has an advertising option for video views that can bring your video from quite a few views to thousands if you are promoting it correctly.

The Best Video View Ad Strategy

There are a couple of different strategies you want to employ at the ad set level, but arguably the No. 1 tactic you want to take advantage of is at the ad level.

So, let’s say you are using multiple ad sets to target different audiences for your video (which you absolutely should be doing); unfortunately, those ad sets create a new ad ID for each ad set.

However, you don’t want all this new traffic and engagement to go different ad IDs; you want it to all funnel to the same exact ad ID, meaning that all of the new views and engagement you receive will be on the same exact video, instead of the multiple ad IDs it will go to without employing this tactic.

When you create multiple ad sets, the ad set automatically crates a new ad ID. While the content of the ad is exactly the same, the ad ID is different, meaning separate comments, likes, shares for each ad ID.

If you don’t know what your ad ID is or how to retrieve it, follow these steps:

1. Go the ad level and check the box to the left of your ad

2. Click the preview button

3. This preview box will pop up and you will click that little arrow button in the top right corner.

4. You will then click “Facebook post with comments” from the drop down menu.

5. You will copy and paste the number that is after “posts/”

Then, you will return to your ad sets and select the ones that you have not edited yet. Click on the ad set to bring it to the ad level and click the edit button under your ad’s name.

As seen above, you will click use existing post and then copy and paste the ID into the area that says “Enter Post ID.” From there, you will press submit and then re-publish your ad.

Now, all of your ad sets will be funneling the engagement and views to the same exact ad ID.

The benefits of this are once this video garners lots of views and engagement, you can utilize it as “social proof” in future ad campaigns.

Let’s say you are running a re-targeting campaign to website visitors, you can showcase this video that has thousands of views and engagements to potential customers because it will show them that people have provided positive reinforcement to your brand.

Conclusion

This is a real easy and quick tactic you can employ to your video view campaigns. Simply, copy and paste your ad ID to all of your ads and you will have all the traffic and engagement on the same exact video. This helps with social proof and maximizes your current campaign to get the most bang for your buck.
